Okay, I have a hidden agenda. I've baited you here with the promise of help understanding poetry but I'd be happy if I could hook a few poets, or at least make poetry lovers of you. If you'd like to send me a poem of your own to read, I'd be glad to see it.
The lessons below appear at my website www.poetrydoctor.org and may be of use to you in better understanding how to read, understand, enjoy and even write poetry. Lessons on explicating should help you choose and explain the required quotes you place not just in your poetry paper but in all three of the essays you will write.
