SUFFOLK COUNTY CELEBRATES ITS YOUNG POETS  

            Suffolk County legislator, Wayne Horsley, together with Suffolk County Poet Laureate, David Axelrod, will congratulate thirty young poets and their mentors for their accomplishments on Sunday, February 8th.  

            Eight of the young poets will have their first books published as part of the Young Poets Mentoring Program established by Dr. Axelrod. There will also be an anthology of all those who participated.  

            The list of young poets includes residents throughout Suffolk . “It’s a major event to have a first book published,” Dr. Axelrod notes. “That Suffolk County has such talent is a tribute us all.”

            Wayne Horsley, Chair of the Economic Development, Higher Education, and Energy Committee, will present the poets with certificates to commemorate their good work.  

            The event will be held at Borders Books, 2139 Nesconset Highway , Stony Brook, from 2 to 4 p.m.

EIGHT YOUNG POETS HAVE BOOKS PUBLISHED 

Dr. David B. Axelrod, Suffolk County Poet Laureate, is pleased to announce that, as part of his Young Poets’ Mentoring Program, eight poets from Suffolk County will celebrate the publication of their first book.  

1. Sarah Gutowski, of Center Moriches, mentored Lauren LoNigro, of Holbrook, author of  Spirit of the Stairway.  

2. Jeanette Klimzewski, of Smithtown , mentored Courtney Alwais, of Smithtown , author of Alone with My Earthly Symphony.  

3. Paul Agostino, of Holbrook, of  mentored  Matt Galletta, of Sayville , author of  Lemons.  

4. Yolanda Coulaz, of Farmingdale, mentored Sarah Goncalves, of Eastport, author of The Unseen Face.  

5. Tom Stock, of Manorville, mentored Rachel Bohlman, of Moriches, author of Kindling.   

6. David Axelrod, of Selden , mentored Catherine McLean, author of Time of Dawning.  

7.. Linda Opyr, of Bridgehampton, mentored Robyn Suchy of St. James, author of Stairwells and Window Frames.  

8. Lenny Greco, of Medford ,  mentored Elizabeth Brenner, of Ronkonkoma , author of  There’s More to the Story.
