ACTIVITIES IN 2008

 

December 5. Dr. Axelrod joined co-editor Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan and thirty poets whose poems were included                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            to celebrate the publication of the North Sea Anthology of poetry, Long Island Sounds. Emma Clark Library. 

Dr. Axelrod joined poet, Adam Fisher,  reading in Kew Gardens for the REZ Reading Series, 85-09 118th Street.

November 13, Dr. Axelrod will read in Guilford, Connecticut.

October 10, Dr. Axelrod will read at Oceanside Library, hosted by Peter Dugan.

September 21, Young Poets and Mentors meet to celebrate their work at Best Bargain Books, hosted by Dr. Axelrod

  Paul Teri, Erin Chase, Shawn Burton, Lauren LoNigro, Rachael Ciminello, Jerry Wagner, Jen Pascullo, Rob Loguidice.

September 4, Lauren LoNigro celebrated the publication of her new book, the first in the Young Poets Mentoring Program. Hosted by Dr. Axelrod and her mentor, Professor Sarah Gutowski. Click her to see:

August 26, 2008 at Borders in Stony Brook, Dr. Axelrod discusses his duties as Suffolk County Poet Laureate.

August 9, Dr. Axelrod helped raise funds for the East Hampton Library by appearing  at Author's Night. Click here for: More Information

July 27, 2008 At the  Third Jack Kerouac Softball Challenge Game, the North Sea Dharma Hawks beat the Northport Zen Tigers by a score of 16 to 6. The event was held at Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays, coordinated by Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan and George Wallace. 

July 19 to 25th, Dr. Axelrod participated in the Gerard Manley Hopkins International Festival and Summer School where he was director of the Young Poets Workshops.

MAY 8, Appeared with, Max Wheat, who was voted by his poetry peers as Nassau Poet Laureate, at L. I. Library Conference at Crest Hollow Country Club.
