DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS ARE
DIFFERENT
FOR CLASSROOM COURSE!
Your instructor wants you to not just finish but do well!
From past experience it has been seen that students who put off their
assignments, who don't keep to deadlines, more often do not finish their course
successfully.
Therefore, you are required to do the work on deadline. I've posted dates
fairly evenly through the term. On-line courses don't have to worry about
"legal holidays!" We can work around them if not on them. Just come as
close as you can. 24 hours difference won't kill us. Days and weeks late would
be bad! The final deadline for your grade sheet and final grade, however, is not
flexible!
1. For
your mid-term paper on poetry:
SEND YOUR PAPER AS SOON AS YOU WISH, no later than MIDTERM, October 29th.
Be careful! Don't be late. To get a "B"
in the class you will have to get a "B" or better on this paper and
papers sent late will have their grade lowered! SEND THE PAPER
BEFORE
TO
BE SAFE. Don't wait for the deadline. Send as early as you can!
Hint: send your thesis statement to me to be sure that you are
starting off correctly: one sentence, your main idea, the sentence at the top of
the outline I have provided. The paper is a major part of your grade!
PLEASE LABEL ALL YOUR EMAIL "RE: EG
91"
2.
For the ten (10) poems you are required to write the listed
categories:
SEND TWO (2) POEMS to everyone on the list by September 18th.
SEND TWO WORKSHOP
COMMENTS to two fellow students by September 25th.
PLEASE LABEL YOUR EMAIL "RE: WORKSHOP FOR EG 91".
SEND ME IMITATIONS
of the style of a contemporary poet sent to me by October 9th.
NOTE: You need not send the imitations to the class list.
SEND ME A REQUIRED SONNET
by October 16th.
SEND ME THREE (3) REQUIRED HAIKU
by October 23rd.
SEND BALANCE OF COMPLETE TEN POEMS and any required revisions to me in a
single batch by November 13th.
(You only have to send two poems to everyone. You only have to send
comments to two fellow students (on their two poems=total of four poems you
critique). Any extra poetry you send to the complete list is optional. Any extra
comments you send to your fellow students may count as extra credit.)
3. For the
ratings and reviews of poetry websites and links:
Please send me your GOOGLE
LIST by September 13th.
REVIEWS may be sent all at once or a bit at a time. If you wish to do a
little at a time rather than all of your reviews at once, be sure you keep to
these due dates: first review(s) due on September 20th; more
reviews by October 11th; and by November 27th the total of up to ten
reviews should be complete. Hint: Save your original Google
search! If you go back and re-do the search it will be different every time you
search. SEND ALL REVIEWS OF EZINES BY NOV. 30th--NOT LATER!
(Note that the actual number of reviews you will do may vary depending on how
many on-line magazines you find when you do your Google search. Your first
reviews should be sent by and all should be done not
later than .)
4.
REVIEW poetry performance on-line. I'm leaving things up to you
to find a poet performing on-line. Part of this term is intended to get you
surfing for poetry wherever you can! Again, don't put things off too long! Send
your link to me with your review of what you watched no later than first week of
December.
5.
For your reports on poetry events you have attended: Your review of a poetry
performance should come in by December 5th. As
Hint, go early. There are fewer programs to attend as the winter holidays
approach and also, if you go to more than one you get extra credit. Don't leave
your attendance at an event to the last moment! People sometimes have gone to an
event only to find that it was either cancelled or didn't include poetry as was
promised! You need to pick and attend an event that includes a poetry reading!
6. For
your review of a contemporary author's book:
SEND YOUR REVIEW AS SOON AS YOU CAN, no later than November 28th.
LUCKY #7.
For your grade sheet, REQUIRED TO GET YOUR FINAL GRADE:
FINAL GRADE SHEET MUST BE RECEIVED BY DECEMBER 14TH . No grade will be issued
without my receiving your final grade sheet.
NOTE: If I do not receive a grade sheet from you, you will be issued a
"W" for "Withdrawn."
