Advocate a Cause: a Political Essay

   We are awash in politics! Whether it is the platform of a political candidate, the analysis of impending legislation, or the consequences of laws and actions already on our books, political issues are constantly being debated.

    Your assignment is to focus your analysis on a single, clear political issue and advocate your side. Convince your reader that your cause is well-reasoned, worthy, just. When your reader finishes your essay, there should be no other choice but to "vote with you."

   Clearly, any cause is open to discuss. Just as clearly, either side of your issue may be espoused. However, you have to chose only one issue. Don't digress to other subjects. Certainly don't "beg the question," assuming the premises on which you make your case are automatically true. For the purposes of your writing a strong argument, remember the first essay (and subsequent research paper) you wrote and

Chose the one, best, most persuasive reason you can give to convince your reader and prove that with solid evidence.
