Founded in 1976 by professor and poet Dr. David B. Axelrod, Writers Unlimited Agency, Inc. is a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit with offices in Rocky Point, NY, Daytona Beach and Gainesville, FL. In 2009, Dr. Axelrod’s son, Daniel Axelrod, a Mass Communications doctoral student at the University of Florida, became the organization’s president. Writers Unlimited Agency’s goals are:
- Educational — Teaching college courses in creative writing, poetry and journalism and holding educational workshops and seminars for the public.
- Arts and Cultural — Promoting the arts by staging events such as poetry readings and lecture series with noted authors, media figures and publishing industry veterans.
- Small Press — Publishing books, including nearly fifty titles of poetry, self-help and other arts titles.
- Communications Services — Writing freeelance magazine and newspaper articles and providing public relations consulting.
Our subsidiaries are:
- Writers Ink Press. Established in 1978 as our small press arm.
- LIPS. Literary Independent Publishers Service. Formerly the Long Island Publishers Service, LIPS was established in 1990 as our international distribution arm to sell our own and other authors’ books.
- UNS, Unlimited News Services. Provides freelance news stories, public relations consulting services and adjunct teaching and tutoring services.
